The aim of this course is to introduce you to yoga and through doing so, help to promote a feeling of well being.

Fran Wolfman has been practicing yoga for 17 years and has been a qualified British Wheel of Yoga Teacher since 2009. This yoga class is Hatha yoga based and involves learning asana (posture) work together with simple breathing techniques. As the class moves on, both breath work (pranayama) and the asanas will become more specific, depending on the general interest and ability within the class. The practice is aimed at beginners and intermediate students and Fran will try to differentiate and modify postures according to students’ needs.

Most people can practice yoga whatever their age and fitness level, but it is important that you keep Fran informed of any changes to your physical well being (such as back injuries, joint injuries, or pregnancy) as this will affect your practice.

Yoga is non-competitive and everyone can work within their own limits. Fran leads a relaxed class and there is no pressure to move on to difficult postures, but she will try to progress class members through a series of postures through the course. Unless it's something on your wish list – Fran won't be making you wrap your leg around your head!

If you want to give yoga a go, wear loose comfortable clothes, and try not to have a big meal beforehand. The class work in bare feet, unless you have a medical reason not to do so. Mats and blocks are provided for you to use, but if you have your own, please bring them along.
